Temperatures begin to rise as early as the second half of December, reaching their peak in January and February, the Tanzanian summer months, and remain high until mid-March.

The Great Migration in the Serengeti is firmly situated in the southern plains where, between January and February, wildebeest calves are born. The choice of birthing location is tied to the nutritious grasses of the region, which are ideal for the growth of the young ones.
Nearly 500,000 are born. Witnessing a birth is an unforgettable experience, especially since wildebeest calves can stand and walk just minutes after being born and can run at high speeds within days.
